To start the new school year with an exciting event, the RCFG has planned a journey to the heart of Toronto's thrifting scene, and you're all invited! As the RCFG, a group created to bring together a tighter-knit community interested in fashion and business, we hope to see you there.

Thrifting is a popular form of shopping in Toronto, especially due to the well-known and large thrifting scene in the city. Thrifting is an overarching term that refers to shopping at a thrift store, garage sale, or flea market where you can find discounted or second-hand items. Many people around the world partake in thrifting for many reasons. Thrifting is not only sustainable and reduces your carbon footprint, but it can also be a way to find unique items and snap away from the pull of fast fashion. Most of all, however, there's the thrill of the hunt, you'll never know what you can find or what's waiting for you!

There are second-hand stores, vintage boutiques, and thrift stores scattered around the city but certain areas are hubs to find many places to shop for whatever you're searching for. With the RCFG you will be able to explore Kensington the heart of thrifting in Toronto with unique boutiques, and vintage stores, and a connection to Queen Street where you can find stores like Value Village. Other hubs include around Lansdowne, where you can find Goodwill, Salvation Army as well as many boutiques that are each more distinctive than another. Lastly, the biggest tip for thrifting in Toronto is to explore the city and walk around, you are bound to bump into a store that was made for you!

We hope that you join us at our first event of the year: thrifting in Kensington. Meet other students, and learn about Toronto and the RCFG on the 23rd of September from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. We will be meeting at Found Cafe (324 College St.).
